IT Ministry Summons Meta Over Removal of PM Modi’s Facebook Post
New Delhi, Jul 28: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has summoned Meta’s Global Head of Public Policy after the social media giant briefly removed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Facebook post addressing the country’s youth, official sources said on Tuesday.
According to sources, the ministry sought an explanation from Meta over the removal of the post, which was published on July 23 during the student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party.
The video featured Prime Minister Modi assuring students of stringent action against examination malpractices and paper leaks while reaching out to the youth.
Responding to the controversy, a Meta spokesperson said the post was removed inadvertently and has since been restored.
“The content was removed in error and has since been restored,” the spokesperson said.
The incident has prompted the IT Ministry to seek clarification from the company regarding the circumstances that led to the removal of the Prime Minister’s post.
