Kishtwar Weather Alert: Residents Advised To Avoid Rivers, Nullahs Till July 14 Amid Rain Forecast
Kishtwar, July 11: The District Administration Kishtwar has issued a weather advisory in view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in the district till July 14, 2026. The administration has urged residents to remain cautious and avoid vulnerable areas, particularly riverbanks, streams, nullahs and landslide-prone zones during the period. According to the advisory, rainfall is expected mainly in higher reaches and mountainous areas of the district. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and stay away from water bodies until weather conditions improve. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar has directed all concerned departments, including PWD, PMGSY, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, Health, Irrigation and Flood Control, NHIDCL and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), to remain on high alert and ensure quick response during any emergency. Tehsildars have been instructed to immediately report incidents related to loss of life, property damage, road blockages or other weather-related issues for timely relief and rescue operations. The District Control Room at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office has been activated and will function round the clock. The administration has appealed to the public to follow official advisories and avoid travel to flood-prone and landslide-sensitive areas until the weather situation normalises.
