Jammu July 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an active monsoon spell across northwest India over the next six days, with heavy rainfall expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. According to the latest weather bulletin, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi are likely to witness isolated to scattered rainfall from July 11 to 16, with heavy showers expected at isolated places between July 11 and 13. The weather department warned of possible waterlogging, traffic disruptions and localised flooding in vulnerable areas. Punjab is also expected to receive continued monsoon showers during the period, with heavy rainfall likely at isolated places on July 11-13. Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience a strong monsoon phase, with widespread rainfall forecast from July 11 to 16 and isolated heavy showers till July 15. The IMD cautioned about possible landslides, flash floods and road blockages in hilly regions. For Jammu and Kashmir, the weather office has predicted fairly widespread rainfall on July 11 and 12, followed by scattered showers between July 13 and 16. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in parts of the region, especially hilly areas. Uttarakhand is also expected to remain under an active monsoon spell, with widespread rainfall and isolated heavy showers throughout the forecast period, increasing the risk of landslides and flash floods. The IMD has advised residents in rain-prone areas to follow local weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel during intense showers and remain cautious in flood- and landslide-prone zones.
