JALNA, Aug 22: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Maharashtra Police has arrested a 50-year-old man who was allegedly wanted in connection with a cryptocurrency investment fraud involving more than Rs 4.3 crore, an official said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Amod Mehetar, was arrested on Thursday from the Talsande area of Kolhapur district, where he had allegedly been living under a false identity in student accommodation near a local college.
According to police, Mehetar and his associates allegedly lured investors by promising high returns through cryptocurrency investments before cheating them of around Rs 4.3 crore.
A case was registered at Jalna Tehsil police station on October 18, 2025, against Mehetar and five others.
Mehetar was produced before a local court, which remanded him to six days of police custody, the official said.
Police are continuing efforts to trace the five other accused who remain absconding.
