Devotees Throng Mahakaleshwar Temple on 2nd Monday of Sawan; LG Sinha attends Bhasma Aarti

UJJAIN: Thousands of devotees gathered at the revered Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain on Monday, the second Monday of the holy month of Sawan, to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Mahakal.

The temple witnessed a heavy influx of devotees from across the country, prompting the district administration and temple authorities to make elaborate arrangements for crowd management and smooth darshan.

Among those who visited the shrine was Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who attended the spiritually significant Bhasma Aarti at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in the early hours of the day. 

The Bhasma Aarti, one of the most revered rituals at the temple, was conducted amid traditional religious ceremonies, chanting of sacred mantras and devotional fervour. Large numbers of devotees gathered to witness the ritual and offer prayers to Lord Shiva.

The second Monday of Sawan holds special religious significance for Shiva devotees, with the temple witnessing a festive atmosphere and increased footfall throughout the day.

In view of the large gathering, additional security personnel were deployed around the temple premises. Arrangements were also made for crowd control, traffic regulation and the orderly movement of devotees.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s participation in the Bhasma Aarti added to the significance of the occasion. He offered prayers at the shrine and prayed for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people.
