Jammu, Aug 23: Three men stranded in the Chenab river following a sudden rise in water levels caused by heavy rains in its catchment area were rescued in a joint operation by the police, Army and SDRF in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector on Saturday night, officials said.
The three men—Sunil Kumar, Arjun Dev Singh and Manik Kumar—were sitting along the riverbank at Chandian Ghat when rising water levels left them stranded around 8 pm, they said.
After receiving the information, police personnel, Army troops and SDRF teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
After nearly two hours of strenuous efforts, the teams successfully evacuated all three men from the river and brought them to safety, officials said.
