RAJOURI, Sept 15: Rajouri Police have busted an Over Ground Worker (OGW) module allegedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and arrested three persons in a major breakthrough against the terror network operating in the Pir Panjal region, officials said on Monday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Zakir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Kotcharwal Teryath; Mohd Azam, son of Ali Bahadur, also a resident of Kotcharwal Teryath; and Mohd Mushtaq, son of Mohd Iqbal, a resident of Udhan in Rajouri.
Police said the arrests were made during an investigation into a terror module operating in the Pir Panjal region. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused allegedly provided logistical support, safe transit and other ground-level assistance to terrorists.
Investigators further found that the accused allegedly acted as guides and facilitated the movement of terrorist groups towards the Kashmir Valley. They were also allegedly involved in providing ground support in several attacks, including an attack targeting civilians.
During the investigation, police also recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) based on the disclosure of one of the arrested accused.
Preliminary findings suggest that the IED had allegedly been handed over to the accused by members of a terrorist group for safe custody and possible use in a targeted attack.
Police said further investigation is underway to unravel the complete network, identify other associates and ascertain the full extent of the accused persons' alleged involvement in terror-related activities.
