St. Louis (USA), Aug 28: Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa created history by becoming the first Indian player to win the Grand Chess Tour (GCT) title, defeating American Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana in the final at St. Louis.
Praggnanandhaa produced a remarkable comeback on Thursday after trailing Caruana at the beginning of the day.
The Indian grandmaster eventually overcame Caruana 15-13 in the grand finale to clinch his maiden GCT title.
With the victory, Praggnanandhaa also took home the $200,000 winner's prize.
