DODA, September 10: The Directorate of Rural Development Department, Jammu, has placed a Panchayat Secretary posted in Block Jakayas of Doda district under suspension following the circulation of a video on social media allegedly linked to corruption.
According to an official order issued by the Directorate, Chanchal Singh, Panchayat Secretary, Block Jakayas, has been suspended with immediate effect pending an inquiry into the allegations.
During the suspension period, Singh has been attached to the office of the Assistant Commissioner Development, Udhampur.
The department has appointed Neeraj Sharma, JKAS, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Kishtwar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to examine the allegations, record detailed findings and submit the inquiry report along with specific recommendations within 15 days.
The suspension order has been forwarded to senior officials, including the Secretary to the Government, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, the District Development Commissioner, Doda, and the Assistant Commissioners Development of Doda and Udhampur, besides other concerned officers for information and necessary action.
The department's action follows the emergence of the viral video and comes as part of the ongoing process to ascertain the facts and determine responsibility in the matter.
