LG Sinha Condemns Anantnag Terror Attack, Vows Stern Action Against Perpetrators
Srinagar, July 22: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Anantnag that claimed the life of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain, assuring that those responsible will be brought to justice. Head Constable Ashiq Hussain, who was deployed on Amarnath Yatra security duty, was shot dead by terrorists at Lal Chowk in Anantnag around 12:30 pm. Condemning the attack, the Lieutenant Governor described it as a cowardly act and asserted that it would not go unpunished. “I strongly condemn this cowardly attack. This heinous act will not go unpunished. J&K Police and our security forces are on the ground and will bring those responsible to justice,” Sinha said in a post on X. The LG said he had spoken with Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat to review the security situation following the attack. Expressing his condolences, Sinha said the entire nation stands with the family of the martyred police officer. “I spoke with DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat to review the situation following the terror attack in Anantnag. My heartfelt condolences to the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty. The whole country stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the family of the martyr,” he said. Meanwhile, DGP Nalin Prabhat visited the attack site to assess the situation firsthand. Security forces have launched a massive search operation, while additional reinforcements have been deployed across the area to trace and neutralize the terrorists involved.
