Srinagar, Sep 11: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for the past five years, officials said.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Ishaq Sheikh of Okey, Kulgam, was wanted in connection with Case FIR No. 152/2021 registered under Sections 8/15 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kulgam.
Police said the accused was apprehended following specific information received by the authorities.
"Acting on specific information, a police team from Police Station Kulgam, after strenuous efforts, apprehended the absconder at Kulgam," police said.
After completion of legal formalities, Sheikh was produced before the Sessions Court, Kulgam, which remanded him to Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu.
Police said efforts would continue to apprehend absconders and offenders and ensure that no one evades the law.
