NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with young people at the ‘Khelo India Dialogue’ on Thursday, engaging with them on India’s sporting journey and seeking their ideas and aspirations for a stronger, youth-led Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister’s virtual interaction will focus on five key themes — sports, Olympic aspirations, youth leadership, Viksit Bharat and ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’.
The dialogue will focus on strengthening India’s sports ecosystem through improved facilities, coaching, sports science and greater participation, besides nurturing talent for the 2036 Olympics through scientific talent identification, transparent selection and long-term athlete development.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the programme aims to provide young people with a direct platform to share their aspirations and contribute to the country’s sporting and youth development agenda.
Organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) as part of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations, the nationwide programme will involve youth from two colleges in every district across States and Union Territories.
The initiative is aimed at advancing the vision of building a fit, disciplined and sporting nation while placing young people at the centre of the country’s development process.
The Khelo India Dialogue will bring together sports, youth leadership, civic responsibility, volunteering, fitness and nation-building on a common platform. The national programme will be followed by local-level interactions involving young participants, MY Bharat volunteers, sportspersons and public representatives.
A key feature of the programme will be direct interaction between sports enthusiasts and leading Indian athletes and medal winners.
The ‘Yuva Samvaad’ segment will provide participants an opportunity to present their ideas, perspectives and aspirations, the statement said.
The five themes will also include creating youth leaders through governance platforms and MY Bharat-led volunteering, equipping young people with future-ready skills and civic responsibility, and encouraging structured volunteering for Viksit Bharat.
Another major focus will be promoting the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ movement by using sports and peer networks to combat substance abuse. The initiative will also be reinforced through weekly Jan Bhagidari activities under the Prime Minister’s 100-week nationwide campaign launched on August 2.
