JAMMU, SEPT 17: A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Jammu has issued a fresh non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed in connection with a terror conspiracy case.
The warrant was issued after the NIA told the court that Saeed, who is based in Pakistan, was allegedly evading arrest and that his involvement had surfaced during the investigation. The agency has alleged that he was providing funds, weapons and directions to terror operatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is the second non-bailable warrant against Saeed issued by the Jammu NIA court within two months. An earlier warrant was issued in July in connection with the investigation into the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
The latest case originated after Jammu and Kashmir Police intercepted a suspected LeT operative, Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, during checking in the Pandach area of Srinagar in March 2026. A Chinese-made grenade and 15 rounds of ammunition were allegedly recovered from his possession.
The subsequent investigation reportedly uncovered links between the arrested operative, LeT and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF). The NIA subsequently placed material before the court regarding Saeed's alleged involvement in the wider terror network.
Special Judge Prem Sagar allowed the NIA's application and directed that the warrant be forwarded to the Deputy Inspector General, NIA Jammu, for execution in accordance with law.
Saeed is also a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and has been accused by Indian authorities of involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and other terror-related activities.
