Imran Khan’s Son Urges Global Intervention, Says Ex-PM Needs Urgent Medical Care

Lahore, Jul 24: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s son, Kasim Khan, has appealed to the international community to intervene, claiming his imprisoned father urgently requires medical attention and that the family has been denied contact with him for months. In a post on X, Kasim said it has been around 1,100 days since Imran Khan was jailed and that neither he nor his brother Sulaiman has spoken to their father since March. “We remain in the dark about his access to healthcare as his eyesight continues to deteriorate. He urgently needs medical attention,” Kasim said, alleging that the family has received no information about his condition due to restrictions on visits. The 73-year-old former prime minister has been lodged in solitary confinement at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since his arrest in August 2023 in the Toshakhana case and has since been convicted in several other cases. Kasim also criticised Pakistan’s political establishment, alleging that democratic institutions were being undermined and urging the international community not to remain silent. Earlier this year, Imran Khan’s legal team and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) raised concerns over his deteriorating eyesight and alleged medical neglect, prompting Pakistan’s Supreme Court to order a medical examination. The government, however, has maintained that Khan is receiving appropriate medical care.
