Eight Suspected Terrorist Overground Workers Arrested In Separate J&K Operations

SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Security forces have arrested eight suspected overground workers (OGWs) of terrorists in three separate operations across Kashmir, officials said on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, police and Army personnel launched a joint search operation in an orchard at Imamsahib in Shopian district.

During the operation, the security forces recovered a grenade, two AK-series rifle magazines, four mobile phones and posters linked to a banned terrorist outfit from an orchard belonging to Nazir Ahmad Wani.

Three suspected OGWs were arrested during the operation and identified as Ashiq Hussain Kumar, Arif Kumar and Harris Manzoor.

In another operation, security forces arrested three suspected OGWs in Shopian late on Monday night.

According to officials, the three were travelling on motorcycles when they were intercepted. Their search led to the recovery of two hand grenades and other incriminating material allegedly linked to the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain their alleged links and activities.
