Div Com Jammu, IGP review Independence Day arrangements at MA Stadium

JAMMU, AUGUST 12: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, today reviewed the Independence Day 2026 celebration arrangements here at the Maulana Azad Stadium.

During the visit, the officers inspected the venue and reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.

Senior officers from the Civil Administration and Police Department, including Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner JMC, SSP Security, SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic Jammu and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The Divisional Commissioner issued detailed directions to the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply, adequate drinking water, proper seating arrangements, sanitation, cleanliness, barricading, security arrangements and other essential facilities at the venue.

He stressed upon the concerned agencies to ensure that all arrangements are completed well in advance and that adequate facilities are made available for the participants, invitees, students, cultural groups and the general public attending the national event.

The Traffic authorities were directed to put in place a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement, proper parking arrangements and hassle-free movement of commuters and participants before, during and after the celebrations. Necessary diversions and traffic regulation measures were also discussed to avoid inconvenience to the general public.

The Divisional Commissioner further directed the concerned departments to keep contingency arrangements in place in view of possible inclement weather, including suitable alternative arrangements for participants and guests in case of rain or other adverse weather conditions.

The Police and Security agencies were directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements, effective crowd management, adequate deployment of personnel and proper access control at and around the venue. Emphasis was also laid on coordinated functioning among all departments for ensuring a safe and disciplined celebration.

The officers also reviewed arrangements related to seating, entry and exit points, medical facilities, emergency response, fire safety, sanitation, public convenience and coordination among line departments.

The Divisional Commissioner emphasized that Independence Day is a national occasion of great significance and directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure that the celebrations are conducted with dignity, enthusiasm, safety and patriotic spirit.
