SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Nalin Prabhat on Monday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to assess preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Raksha Bandhan and other upcoming events across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting focused on security deployment, crowd management, surveillance, traffic regulation and emergency response mechanisms, including arrangements for the Friday following Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
The meeting was attended by Spl DGP Coordination J&K, IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP Jammu Zone, all Range DIGs and district SSPs/PDs, besides SSP PCR Kashmir, AIG (Ct & Int) PHQ and other senior police officers.
Reviewing the preparedness of field formations, the DGP directed officers to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure proactive policing and foolproof security arrangements well ahead of the scheduled events.
Special attention was given to major shrines, mosques and other religious places, particularly Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent sites where large congregations and night-long prayers are expected.
Prabhat directed officers to ensure adequate security coverage, effective surveillance and close coordination among field formations so that any emerging situation is identified and addressed promptly.
He also stressed strengthening surveillance at sensitive and vulnerable locations and ensuring effective deployment of personnel at strategic and high-footfall areas.
The DGP directed officers to prepare comprehensive traffic regulation and route management plans around major religious places and procession routes to ensure smooth and safe movement of devotees and the general public.
Security arrangements for Raksha Bandhan were also reviewed, with officers asked to make advance arrangements at markets, temples and other prominent religious places expected to witness increased public movement.
Prabhat emphasised that all field formations must remain alert, coordinated and responsive throughout the events, with adequate contingency plans in place to deal with any unforeseen situation.
He directed that all security, traffic and crowd-management arrangements be completed well in advance to ensure the peaceful and safe conduct of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Raksha Bandhan and other forthcoming events across J&K.
