Panaji, Sept 1: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight carrying 229 passengers returned to Goa and made an emergency landing at Manohar International Airport on Tuesday after one of its engines developed a technical snag shortly after takeoff, officials said.
IndiGo flight 6E 2102 departed from Goa at 9:16 am and returned about 30 minutes later after reporting an engine problem. The Air Traffic Control declared a full emergency around 9:30 am, and the aircraft landed safely on Runway 28 at 9:51 am.
An airport official confirmed that all 229 passengers were on board and the aircraft landed safely at Mopa in North Goa.
IndiGo said a technical issue was detected shortly after takeoff. Following standard operating procedures, the pilots informed the authorities and decided to return to Goa.
The aircraft has been taken up for maintenance checks and will resume operations only after obtaining the necessary clearances, the airline said.
IndiGo also made alternative arrangements for passengers to reach their destination.
