BJP lauds President Murmu's message on teachers' role in shaping 'Nation First' generations

New Delhi, Sep 5: The BJP on Saturday praised President Droupadi Murmu's message on Teachers' Day, saying it highlights the vital role of teachers in shaping responsible citizens and nurturing a scientific outlook and the spirit of "nation first" in them.

In an article written on the occasion of Teachers' Day, Murmu said it is the sacred duty of teachers to guide their students to be good human beings.

Students who achieve prosperity and glory while remaining ethical in their thoughts and actions are living embodiments of a teacher's success, she said.

The president also called upon teachers to shape generations of students who develop a scientific outlook and move forward with the spirit of "nation first".

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin said Murmu's message highlights the importance of teachers in shaping responsible and compassionate citizens.

"A powerful message by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji on the vital role of teachers in shaping not just successful individuals, but responsible and compassionate citizens.

"Under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, we are strengthening our education ecosystem and empowering our youth, while laying the foundation for a 'Viksit Bharat' rooted in values, knowledge and the spirit of 'Nation First'," he said in a post on X.

BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani said Murmu's article reflects on her own experience as a teacher and the influence of teachers and students in her life.

"Not many know that President Droupadi Murmu Ji was a teacher herself. This Teachers Day, she shares her personal journey as an educator, remembering the teachers who shaped her and the students from whom she learnt along the way. A heartfelt reflection on the enduring influence of teachers and their profound role in shaping a better India," Irani said in a post on X.

Union minister Piyush Goyal said the article draws from Murmu's own experience as a teacher and pays tributes to educators across the country.

"She honours the nation's gurus, whose quiet dedication in classrooms across India builds the minds that will help the nation learn, grow, and lead," he added.
