Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Monday said the Tricolour symbolises the country’s freedom, unity and pride and reaffirmed the commitment to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chaudhary led a Tiranga Yatra in the state capital, walking from JP Golambar to Kargil Chowk with a large number of people. Several state ministers also participated in the march.
However, both Deputy Chief Ministers — Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, senior JD(U) leaders — were conspicuous by their absence.
No JD(U) leader was available for comment on their absence.
“Tiranga is not just a piece of cloth divided into three colours; it is our pride and a marker of Indian democracy,” Chaudhary said before starting the march.
Remembering freedom fighters, he said, “Our ancestors, as freedom fighters, sacrificed their lives to establish democracy in India and gave us this Tricolour. Without their sacrifices and efforts, we would not have attained freedom 78 years ago.”
BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi said that the nationwide Tiranga Yatra has become a mass movement.
“Ever since Modi appealed for a Tiranga yatra at every home and establishment, it has become a mass movement. We will carry out a similar yatra at all district headquarters on Wednesday,” he said.
Agriculture minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said the yatra “sends a message to enemies and traitors whose negative mindset weakens the nation.”
Co-operative department minister Ram Kripal Yadav said the Tricolour would continue to be hoisted and rallies would be taken out across the state.
