Amarnath Yatra Convoys Suspended as Precaution on Article 370 Abrogation Anniversary
BANIHAL, Aug 5: The movement of Shri Amarnath Yatra convoys was suspended on Wednesday as a precautionary security measure in view of the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. Officials said no convoy carrying pilgrims was allowed to proceed from Jammu to the Baltal base camp, while return convoys from Baltal to Jammu were also halted for the day as part of heightened security arrangements. However, the pilgrimage itself continued without interruption. Pilgrims who had already reached the Baltal base camp were permitted to undertake the onward journey to the Holy Cave Shrine for darshan according to the scheduled plan. The temporary suspension of convoy movement forms part of enhanced security measures across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. Authorities said the Yatra is continuing in a regulated and secure manner, with only the movement of fresh and return convoys being restricted as a preventive step to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
