Jammu, September 30: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa today  visited Panchayat Palanwala in Block Khour to launch Solid Waste Management Plan under Swachh Bharat Mission, besides distributing land passbooks among the farmers.

IAS Probationer Anand Trivedi; ACP Jammu Minakshi Vaid; Tehsildar Khour, Monika Sharma; BDO Khour, Varun Choudhary; Sarpanch, Geeta Devi & Vishal Garg, representatives of Puri Oil Mills were also present on the occasion.

During the program, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the cleanliness and greenery in the Panchayat and appreciated the efforts put in by Sarpanch Geeta Devi and the residents towards maintaining sanitation and environment friendly atmosphere in the area.

The DC emphasised upon the officers to sensitize people regarding waste segregation and household composting to reduce environmental impact of garbage  dumping and creation of landfills.

To facilitate the task, the Deputy Commissioner handed over an E-rickshaw to the Panchayat donated by Puri Oil Mills Ltd towards Swachhta Hi Seva initiative under  Phase II of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The battery-powered E-Garbage Vans will offer an environment –friendly way to collect segregated solid waste from individual households and take them to waste collection and segregation centres.

The DC Jammu also distributed land passbooks to provide ‘Record of Rights’ to village household owners with issuance of legal ownership cards under SWAMITVA scheme.
