Jammu & Kashmir Toycathon-2023 gets national attention; JKBOSE Chairman Manhas’s ‘innovation’ chapter shines bright in star-studded book

JAMMU: In a moment of great pride for the region, an intellectually stimulating piece on innovation and intellectual property co-authored by , Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, together with Prof Unnat Pandit is part of a compendium of insightful essays and chapters which was released on Monday in New Delhi.

The collection named ‘The Art of Implementation -How Modi ki guarantee is delivered’ was launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar amidst a galaxy of intellectuals at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.

Prof Parikshat Singh ManhasRam Bahadur Rai, President, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts was also present on the occasion.

The Art of Implementation” is a compendium of that essence of public administration: translating policy formulation to concrete, expeditious outcomes. PM Narendra Modi’s decade in office exemplifies this art, indeed this gift.

Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas focuses on innovation and intellectual property in his piece titled “Neonatal Innovation and Intellectual Property”. This piece co-authored with Prof Unnat Pandit, derives its background and insights from Toycathon-2023, a highly innovative national level programme conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) last year.

This was just one of innumerable examples of how Prof Manhas was able to successfully bring to reality the vision of the program, a crucial aspect of the National Educational Policy 2020, under the able guidance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Sinha, under whose command Jammu and Kashmir has achieved great success in diverse aspects, was full of praises for Prof Manhas-led SCERT’s dedicated and focussed approach to make Toycathon-2023 a great success.

Pertinently, TOYCATHON 2023 with theme ‘Promotion of innovative ideas and revival of local heritage’ was held in three categories i.e class 6th to 8th, class 9th to 10th and class 11th to 12th. The modalities of event were launched on 12th May, 2023 with an opening date for registration and submission of ideas of toys and games for the students. TOYCATHON involved three tier competition starting from School level competition, District level competition and UT level competition – the Grand Finale.

TOYCATHON, is an initiative of Government of India to crowd source innovative ideas for toys and games based on Bhartiya Sanskriti, Ethos, Culture, History, Technology, Ethnicity, National Heroes and important events, providing students with the opportunity to propose toys and games that will greatly explore the hidden talent of potentialities and abilities of children to understand the ethos and values of Indian Culture as envisioned in National Educational Policy 2020.

Prof. Parikshat Singh said that more that 1,23000 registrations were received for this event and more than 5400 competitions were organised across the UT at School, District and UT levels. He highlighted that this event will be a platform for development of toy industry. He remarked that the business models of these designs showcased in the Grand Finale will be worked out for handholding.

Besides Prof Manhas, Sitharaman is also one of the contributors to the book as she writes on “Overcoming the Challenge of Change”. Amitabh Kant, the G20 Sherpa and former CEO Niti Ayog, has written on “India’s Digital Infrastructure”, economist Sanjeev Sanyal writes on “Process Reforms” whole top journalist Raj Chengappa has contributed on “Leadership -Modi way”.
