RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 30: A forest team from Nowshera Forest Division Seized a vehicle loaded with Khairwood from Brevi area of Kalakote Sub Division last night.
After the specific input regarding illegal smuggling of forest produce Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera Neelima Shah IFS constituted a special team under the leadership of Rakesh Verma Range Forest Officer Sunderbani and Ved Parkash Block Forest Officer Dharamsal.
Conducted the naka at a specific place where the vehicle could be intercepted during the intervening night of 29th and 30th November the forest team laid a naka at Brevi to check illegal movement of forest produce in which vehicle bearing registration No. JK02BN-3313 loaded with Khair wood was seized.
The khair smuggler camouflaged the khairwood with plastic scrape in order to dodge the forest officials. The alert forest staff after physical search of the vehicle recovered about 30 quintals of khair wood hidden under plastic scrap. Range Forest Officer said that forest offence report has been registered and confiscation proceeding against the vehicle also initiated, under relevant sections of law. He further added that the department is taking all the measures to prevent smuggling of Forest produce.
The whole operation was carried under the direct supervision of Vivek Verma IFS Conservator of Forest west circle Rajouri and Neelima Shah IFS Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera.
