New Delhi, Sep 13 : Delhi Police has arrested two men in connection with an alleged theft of Rs 2 lakh cash, silver rings and other belongings at New Delhi railway station, an official said on Sunday.
Police allegedly recovered Rs 1.51 lakh from the possession of the accused. The case was registered at the New Delhi railway station police station on September 3 after the complainant reported that his bag containing Rs 2 lakh had allegedly been stolen, he said.
During the investigation, police analysed CCTV footage, which showed one of the suspects carrying the stolen bag.
"Based on the footage and sustained investigation, the accused -- Ashwani Kumar, 33, and Dilip Rathore, 36 --were apprehended from the taxi stand at New Delhi railway station. Kumar was found involved in eight previous cases related to robbery and theft in Uttar Pradesh," the police officer said.
Further investigation is underway to recover the remaining stolen property.
